“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” —Vivian Greene
-From a snow day to a freezing rain one-
This month, the Poetry Sisters' invited writers and poets to their February Challenge that asked for a "____ is a Word " poem, originated by Nikki Grimes. See Nikki's thoughts on the form she created here.
I am late joining Poetry Friday this week but am happy to sit alone in the quiet and write a post with the hashtag #PoetryPals.
Today is Poetry Friday hosted by the wonderful Denise Krebs who is also participating in the Poetry Sisters' February Challenge. She has two different poems that have not only wordplay but voice. See her blog, Dare To Care, where the Poetry Friday Roundup is a happening.
-It is difficult lately to try to write while having to care for my husband at the same time. I will try to make the rounds as much as I can.
Carol, I'm so glad you got a little time to write. Your poem is powerful. I appreciate the rhyme and these three different aspects of life you mention--a stage, a rollercoaster and circular. Truth. Peace to you as you travel this journey.
ReplyDeleteDenise, thank you for joining me here. The house is quiet now after my husband took another fall making life like a rollercoaster. I am spinning but holding my own. Thank you for the peace greeting.
DeleteCarol, hooray for a bit of peace to write in. I've felt a deepening in your poetry recently. I love the sounds and the concrete things like tears and paper stacks. Oh, how I feel both of those. And your internal and near rhymes. Something about your poems recently just feels extra raw, true, and impactful. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThe rawness is inside, Laura, and words and thoughts come flowing out. Thank you for recognizing this, The house is quiet and I am exhausted. A short nap will do and perhaps I will have time between dinner and laundry to write a poem.
DeleteI'm happy you've found a spot of peace to write in. What a perfect word for your "life" these days. I love it and how you turned it into a gem.
ReplyDeleteLinda, many moments in my day & night can be labeled as a caregiver. But I also want to write so I sneak time like now. Have a wonderful day.
DeleteTruly a poem from the heart. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSorry that came up anonymous - It's Rose
DeleteRose, when I sat down to write the poem, words unexpectedly flowed out which does not happen too often.
DeleteDear Carol, I love this, the rhythm and the call-outs to life, so full of things we love. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am marching into March with a shocking medical diagnosis for my husband. I try to find small moments to write so I stay intact. Thank you for being supportive and positive. Happy March back to you.
DeleteBalancing our creative needs with our roles as caregivers can be an ongoing challenging. Glad you were able to find a moment to share with us. <3
