🍁🍃🍂 It is "autumn’s time of splendor". Paul Laurence Dunbar 🍁🍃🍂 This afternoon, some surrounding trees lining streets and highways shared their new blaze of autumn color. The highlight of this seasonal day occured in front of my home. Leaves in shades of amber, golden yellow, scarlet, and deep orange danced in front of my home in a mini leafnado fashion. From a meteorological perspective, a small amount of air began to rotate. It lifted and spinned the dry autumn leaves that moved in a chaotic, circular motion. Observing nature was breathtaking. Nature created a scene of autumnal grandeur. While I added more Halloween decorations to my porch, I listened to the breeze floating by and the crunch of leaves underfoot. In the beauty of the warm afternoon, Autumn cast a magical spell, a quiet transition into the last weeks of fall. magic in the air floats throughout Autumn's season nature's calming gift 🍁🍃🍂 Poetry Friday Thank you to Jone Rush McCulloch for hosting Poetry Friday and inviting friends to create an ode to our favorite candy. Oh, that blaze of color! I just love the red sugar maples that look like they are lit from the inside. Glorious...just glorious. Candy corn...so sweet!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I was thrilled to see the beauty of Virginia pop up yesterday. Candy corn is one of my loves. Thanks for adding your response. Are you thinking about a wonderful collage poem for my new gallery?
DeleteY'know, as waxy and silly as Candy Corn is, it IS my favorite Halloween candy! Little magic pyramids :). I am imagining you with your grandgirls and some cozy cookie-baking. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletePatricia, it is a great Halloween treat that we both enjoy. I love your description, "Little magic pyraminds." Tonight, is Halloween trick or treating with my little grandgirls and the family. Can;t wait!
DeleteWhat a fun ode to candy corn! It's not necessarily my favorite Halloween candy, but surely the holiday wouldn't be the same without it (just as Easter wouldn't be Easter without Peeps). Pass me one of those cookies! Enjoyed your autumn colors description too. Have a Spooky weekend!
ReplyDeleteJama, how wonderful to have you add your book review to my Padlet Gallery. Many thanks for sharing this with everyone. I'm off to trick or treat with my grandgirls but I am saving the candy corn for me. They will find the candy corn on the cookies I made. If you were here, I would provide you with my new cranberry, chocolate chip cookies. Enjoy the weekend.
DeleteThank you for such a sweet-treat post, Carol. I love candy corn, too.
ReplyDeleteCandy corn is so fun. I tried once to put into Rice Crispy Treats. It's sucess was limited. I'll add my ode to the Padlet soon.
ReplyDeleteJone, thank you for adding your ode and inviting everyone to write a node.
DeleteI love "leafnado!" There was a spot on the playground where the building formed a small L-shape, and in the fall, there were often leafnados and kids would join in, running in circles with the leaves and squealing with delight...thanks for bringing back this memory!
