"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides, and follow the sun." - Sandy Gingras
The above quote, inspired me to push grief aside while on my family vacation last Sunday. Being nurtured by nature successfully allowed me to continue my spiritual journey with hope. Below you will discover a Golden Shovel poem I created with the first line of the Gingras' quote, "At the beach, life is different."
🏖
the morning tide sings its song at
the shimmering shore with rushing stride - the
quiet breath of the breezy beach
brings quietude to a harried life
what is needed becomes what is
a new pathway that is different

🏖
For fifty years, my summertime days rested on nature's shores. There was a lure about the ocean. I recall the glorious vistas of Long Island and Cape May beaches with the sun's awakening rays and billowy clouds layering a blue-toned sky. During morning hours, the brilliance of the ocean was inviting. The beach was a calm place for rest, recovery, and renewal on summer days. So this morning, I paused to remember the golden days of past summer excursions to the beach, while keeping memories of last week's family vacation, such as seagulls freely swirling above rushing waves, seemingly unburdened by the challenges of life. Small seashells and smooth rocks road the foam back to the shore as tides rushed in. I heard the squeal of my grandgirls, as they searched for ocean treasures that nature offered. Their excited glee blended with the swooshing sounds of sea water from Long Beach to Cape May.
