Furniture shopping can be daunting even if you know what you are looking for.
Once upon a Saturday, there was a grown-up girl who needed a couch. She went for a ride with her family. Soon they came to the familiar store in its new location.
In the showroom, there were many options. The family was eager to sit on the couches so Goldilocks tried out different types.
In the first room, Goldilocks sat down on the white couch.
"This couch is too soft," she exclaimed as she tried to daintily get up.
So, she tried the sectional in the second room.
"The couch is too deep," she said.
So, she sat on the couch in the third room.
"Ahhh, this couch is just right," she said happily and then looked at the price tag.
Goldilocks sat in the first chair to rest her feet.
"This chair is too hard," she exclaimed.
So she sat in the second chair.
So she sat in the second chair.
"This chair is not right either," she whined. But just as she settled down into the third chair to try it out, she went into sticker shock!
Goldilocks was very tired by this time, so she went back into the car with her family.
There is always another day to shop!

Hope Goldilocks finds the one that is "Just Right". I had to smile as I read this because I am working on for tomorrow also mentions Glodilocks but the outcome is entirely different.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your take on it. Sometimes, it is difficult to find your post among the many others. I guess I will need to bookmark your site since we are crossing paths so many times this year-Hershey, Goldilocks, writing...
DeleteFurniture shopping is SO hard and the prices are SO scary. I went to my car the last time I tried to go furniture shopping and drove off for coffee!
ReplyDeleteI hear you. A break from the shopping experience is a good thing to do. It is funny but I do not have this much trouble when I shop for clothes. I guess I know what I want and the best price point. Thanks foro stopping by.
DeleteI love how you approached this slice. I think we all identify with the fairy tale approach. And don't we wish we had the fairy tale happily ever after ending. Walk in, find the just right at the just right price!
ReplyDeleteThe scenario you paint is ideal. Too bad it is not what really will occur. Thanks for dropping by, Deb.
DeleteI am laughing, as to me, Goldilocks nearly morphed into Scarlett O'Hara ("Tomorrow is another day")! I do hope she finds the right couch. I trust it is out there, just waiting. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a connection, Fran! Here's to more furniture shopping.
DeleteI absolutely love the POV switch on this slice. So clever and something we can all relate to at some point--being Goldilocks. :)
ReplyDeleteBetsy, thank you so much for your comment. I read your email and am honored that you think highly enough of this slice that you would like to add it to your post. I am most appreciative. (I found a typo and corrected it.)
DeleteI love this delightful slice! This line is so true- "But just as she settled down into the third chair to try it out, she went into sticker shock!" I agree with the other comments about the cleverness and relatability of this slice.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun writing this slice but not so much fun going from store to store to find what I want to replace what I have.
DeleteI really enjoyed reading your slice. You're so clever.
ReplyDeleteAmy, that is such a sweet statement. Thanks for joining me here. I hope it is easier for you to make decisions than me.
