Creativity Sparks and Connections

Brene Brown says, "Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world." As a writer, I certainly agree with this thought. Creativity is my spark, illuminated by desire and passion that begins a new thought, idea, or project. It is my venture into the unknown, a design that takes shapes into a digital inspiration. It is often art with a dash of technology that lifts my sparks to finished pieces.

Join me as I share various creativity sparks and connections with fellow creative friends that brought joy this week.

Poetry Postcards:
Poetic goodness arrives with a new group of postcards. The creativity of three poetry friends, Linda Baie, Robyn Hood Black, and Becky Herzog, brings sunshine in winter with special artistic messages for a bright new year.

Becky Herzog shares a musical theme to ring in the new year.
Linda Baie welcomes the new year with an inspirational image poem,
One leaf drops..., and a quote by Rilke.
Robyn Hood Black offers a poem from a different era with one of her current haikus.

Sanctuary of Thought:
Once again, I present One Word 2021 Sanctuary of Thought slide share and padlet. Participants of #SlowK12ArtChat offer their #oneword artistic expressions for silent reflection.

Poetry Note Card:
Carving silent space is essential for mindful practice. In the stillness, I mix different fonts and sizes with thoughts and images to create a poem of reflective action.

Rest assured
your sanctuary
inspires
rejuvenation.
Pause.
Gather
in creative spaces.
Reflect!

Mindful practice.

  1. What a wonderful and beautiful quote to begin your post with! I love it. I've been enjoying Brene Brown's podcasts. I'm so glad she is motivated to share with the world in that way. I've so enjoyed the postcard exchange this year. Real, snail mail is such a treat!

    1. Good morning, Linda. I also love Brene Brown's quote. I should create a digital background for it as a reminder of the power of creativity in making connections. Snail mail is an old tradition that has been rekindled through Jone's Postcard Poetry initiative. This year, everyone has been filled with creative juices. You reminded me to look up other Brene Brown podcasts. Have a great day. My family is driving to VA next week for another round of appointments at the new house. I hope the weather remains calm toward the middle of the week.

  3. I, too, love the opening quote and its visual representation as well as your poems. We had a brilliantly sunny morning here, but all's gray now as there's a "storm brewing." Safe travels to you!

    1. Thank you for joining me, Carmela. Gray seems to be the color of the day so its time to drink hot chocolate and stay inside. We had to pack some of my crystal to take to my new home in VA and the temperature was so cold that we could only work for a short time. More tomorrow unless we are surprised by a storm.

  7. I sometimes think that creativity is how we find our voice, to then speak it. Your layering of words and images always takes creativity to new levels, Carol.

  8. Carol your card with the Bertolt Brecht poem and art is exquisite, so much truth in his words, and the art reminds me of a Hans Hoffman painting:https://leslierankow.wordpress.com/tag/hans-hofmann-foundation/Thanks for offering us this sanctuary filled with poems and art!

    1. Michelle, I love playing around with background designs for my creativity work. Thank you for the link to Hans Hofmann Foundation. His work is filled with bright abstract designs that are inspiring. I found my background design on Canva and played around with fonts to get the effect I wanted. Art has always interplayed in my work. Thank you for noting this specific digital inspiration through your artistic eyes.
