#SOL22 March Musings Day 12: Snowflakes Dance

Nature is full of genius, full of divinity;  so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand. Henry David Thoreau

Wrapped in falling snow, delicate snowflakes
Cascade with wind behind their wings.
In morning's grayish wake,
No winter bird sings.

Cascade with wind behind their wings,
Snowflakes dance in zigzag pleasure.
No winter bird sings.
Winter shares its crispcool treasure.

Snowflakes dance in zigzag pleasure.
Window panes paint frozen views.
Winter shares its crispcool treasure.
Green tones turn to whitened hues.

Window panes paint frozen views
In morning's grayish wake.
Green tones turn to whitened hues
Wrapped in falling snow-delicate snowflakes.

  1. Snowflakes dance in zigzag pleasure -
I love this Pantoum! So much of the country got a chill today - maybe it will warm up for good now! Love this verse!

  2. You write every bit as good as Thoreau. I always enjoy your poetry! :)

  3. Carol, this is a lovely poem. Your language choices are ethereal, and I'm impressed you can create something so magical about show at this moment in the year. I'd be more likely to describe a snowstorm as taking a white turd dump on us again, and if it snows again this spring, I might write than poem.

  5. You wrote another pantoum. Nice. Your poem's strong start pulled me right in...
"Wrapped in falling snow, delicate snowflakes
Cascade with wind behind their wings." Lovely.

  7. That beautiful Thoreau quote set the stage for your gorgeous, whispery-wonder of a winter pantoum, Carol! The form's rhythms mirror the snowflakes' dance. I love snow and the hush it brings ('no winter bird sings") - as if all nature is holding its breath in awe. So lovely.

  9. Carol, there is something calming about watching snowflakes gracefully dance as a gentle breeze carries them past the window. Yesterday it was snowing sideways here. Not a calming sight.
