Remembering Summer with Digitals, a Poem Swap...

Do you remember the lazy-hazy-crazy days of summer? Do you wish that summer could always be here, especially now since the temperature dropped to thirty degrees?

Nat King Cole reminds us of frolicking summer days.
Pause and listen.

My last summer poem swap was sent by a poetry friend, Janet Fagal. She made summer reappear during Virginia's second summer season with her swap which was such a lovely surprise. She sent me Georgia Heard and Rebecca Kai Dotlich's gorgeous book, A Field Guide to the Heart, Poems of Love, Comfort & Hope. I will cherish this poetry book/journal because within its pages I will add memories and poems created.

Besides the book, Janet sent two beautiful photo cards, a mini-notebook to take on walks, a lovely blank card, a small star for my desk, and two of her poems.
What a fine swap. Thank you, Janet.
Janet does not know how my Mom and I loved to make zucchini bread.
Some of Janet's summer memories found at home in the above poem.

I send this postcard poem from Virginia to Janet, while thinking about the beauty of autumn in Central New York.

Talking about friends, I was delighted to write a book review about Matt Forrest Esenwine's new book, A Beginner's Guide to Being Human, and spread the news around social media.

Thank you, Poetry Friday friends, Linda Baie, Michelle Kogan, JoAnn Macken,
Heidi Mordhorst, Laura Purdie Salas, Buffy Silverman, Jama Rattigan, for offering your artistic expressions,  alongside mine, at the Finding Fall 2022 Padlet. I hope others join in and add their artistic expression. The updated padlet is below.

Today is Poetry Friday. Bridget Magee, poetry friend, teacher, editor, and publisher is hosting the Roundup this week. She is also celebrating the 1st Year Anniversary of the  10.10 Poetry Anthology: Celebrating 10 in 10 Different Ways and is also the creator of Poetry Palooza which is being featured at Bridget's blog this month. I thank Bridget for spotlighting my poem, Celebrating Baby's Digits in the 10.10 Poetry Anthology on October 13, 2022. You can read what Bridget wrote and see another Smidgey photo op here.

    1. Linda, that disappearing act happens to me quit a bit. In fact, I do not see the comment I added last night. My little girls are here and we are gearing up for a Halloween party for the family - tonight. Enjoy the weather. Today turned into a beautiful fall day.,

  2. WOW! Beautiful poem swap goodies. I love to make zuccini bread. And then, so many more goodies after that. You are a beauty collector! I'm off to take a peek at that padlet.

    1. Linda, I hope you add a poem or one of your beautiful collage pieces on my Finding Fall 2022 padlet. The grandgirls are here for an overnight so tomorrow should be fun. We will bake and make a fall dinner for our Halloween party.

  3. Hi Carol. You are busy and so creative at the same time. I am slowly gaining my artistic knowledge and have a new camera to help but need a course to really learn how to use it most effectively. So very lovely of you to share the swap. You were so kind and generous in your swapping I wanted to do something special for you (and Michelle K.) and I really love the book Georgia and Rebecca created. The finished project enhances the already brilliant way of collaborating and writing through tough times or any times for that matter. I hope to get something on the padlet but I am here with the kiddos finishing the costumes, heading home in a day or so and back again for our tradition of being with them on Halloween. So much fun but so busy. I am eager to see the padlet. I hope to be able to get you a blog post to share my lovely swap from you and Michelle. I am like the tortoise, slow and steady but not sure what race I may win. Off to write. I am working on a new poem. I go through I think 100 drafts every time. But it is fun for the most part if I have some quiet moments to steal!!

    1. Janet, I was planning to call you but I have been swamped again this week. If you want a blog to post, you are more than welcome to use mine. My little girls came in at 9:30 tonight because my five-year-old grandgirl was the banner bearer in the homecoming parade. Tomorrow, we are preparing for Halloween and having a party when their parents come back for dinner. My mother made a robot and clown costume for my son and daughter when they were young so we will try the costumes on and surprise their parents. If you find out if there is course from Apple to take, let me know. I hope you do add an image poem to the padlet. The trick to writing is quiet time. I am in agreement. Happy Halloween. I would love to see what you are making for the children.
