My World, Your World, Our World

Wake up world. It's the last day of October. Excitement is in the air!  Meteorologists announce good weather news. Today is a sunny, 83-degree day. What a boost to living Nature provides!

For the past few days, I pondered how to connect the beauty of Autumn with Linda Mitchell's Spiritual Journey challenge, My World, Your World, Our World. I ended up jumping around many topics. The words I wrote did not find a straight path to the topic but then again, neither do the different ways we look at life. For the moment, my world is messy. There are assorted stacks of paperwork, multiple phone call messages, and medicine bottles from another respiratory infection found in between my autumn decorations. Each night, the news shares topics of immediate concern from across the globe. Our world is suffering. I decided to pause again to find words that would bring positivity. Below is a draft of a poem that I have changed many times. Comments are always encouraged.

I step into my world
breathe in Autumn's fresh air
soak in the sun's radiance
watch trees sway back and forth
as I awaken to Autumn's spices

I pause, open my heart to a new moment
the spirit of the season invites me
to be present, be thankful, be in love
with our beautiful world
-our only world-

More voices need to be raised against
destruction, hate, and divisiveness
my world, your world,
meld into our world
 let us find peace as
brilliant sunsets close
each night on a
spiritual journey

  1. Oh, my goodness--you've had such a run of medical issues. I'm sorry. I hope that this antibiotic can get you on top of what all this is and you can kick sickness to the curb.
I agree that it's hard to find one topic or "thing" to settle on. There are so many topics and "things" vying for our attention. I join you in praying for peace. I hope we can all find it.

    1. Linda, thanks for your concern.I did have a case of COVID a few weeks back. My doctor was shocked with the test result since allergies and sinus problem were evident. What I have now may be a holdover from a few weeks ago. Here's to peace for the holidays!

  2. Carol, I think we all need positivity in our lives right now. I find the last stanza of your pome to be especially meaningful. This is not just my world or your world. It is our world and we must find ways to get along. As far as things being a bit messy, I like this quote that I found: "Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered " - Jose Saramago. Wishing you good health. Bob

  3. Carol, I hope you kick this infection for good, very soon. I feel like our world needs some antibiotics too. There really are so many concerns in our country and world right now. Peace to you and all, as your poem says. I especially love the last stanza. Let's raise our voices against "destruction, hate, and divisiveness"!
