In my invitation to write alongside me, I explained what the Art of Summering  means. Summering is a state of mind that brings feelings of joy and relaxation. It revolves around the best of summertime and the ability to savor those feelings year-round (adapted from AI thoughts).

Mary Lee Hahn offers the sweltering edition of the

Thank you to Linda Mitchell for her offering also. I am not ready to share her work just yet but stay tuned.

🌞

As one enjoys the art of summering, reflect on how you spent your summer days. I would love to share your work in my mini-gallery. Thank you to all the poets, artists, photographers, and teachers who enjoy the arts.

Below is my digital artwork created after enjoying a beautiful summer day relaxing in my chaise lounge. I was stunned and amazed when I looked up at the sun and saw a cloud that appeared as a heart. For me this was a sign that my loved one was sending me a heartnote from heaven.

🌞

Thank you to Linda Baie for hosting Poetry Friday today. Please read her illuminating blog post that offers connects Charles Dickens with these hard times we are in. Also, you will find other poetic goodness from the Poetry Friday writers.

  1. Carol, your summering art is gorgeous. I especially was drawn to the love note heart in the sky Richard sent. Beautiful post.

  2. I find I think of summer most fondly after it has passed! ;) It seems so lovely in my thoughts and memories, and then the heat sets in and I'm dreaming of fall. :)

  3. Summering brings so many pictures to my mind, Carol. Your start to bringing it all back to us feels very good! Thanks for sharing much already, including that "heart" cloud!

  5. With temps still in the 90’s, it’s hard to believe that summer is gone. Thanks for this beautiful gallery of poems.

  6. Oh that heart cloud! A little gift of love. Thanks for all the summer memories. If only we could continue summering all year long!

  7. Gosh, summering feels so long ago, Carol. Autumn swooped in and this morning winter has arrived. But the poetry and art take me back to the sunshine, the long days, the slow pace, the blue sky, the clouds --oh the heart cloud! Thank you!

  8. I love your heart cloud, Carol. Thanks for encouraging me to capture one of my favorite parts of summer. With Montauk and Jones in our Long Island blood, these are surely precious memories. And the heat I could probably use less of but Mary Lee surely captures it.

  9. Thank you for helping us to look back on summering as we enter our time of autumning (or, as Douglas Florian's book title puts it: AUTUMBLINGS)!

    1. Mary Lee, I do enjoy Douglas Florian's poetry. Years ago, when I was a Reading Specialist in an elementary Gr. 1-4 school, we invited Douglas to read to the children. As the day went on we heard many accolades on his presentations and poems. I must find his Autumblings book. Thanks.

  11. Carol, I love you, short little nibbles of summer. Some days in Boston ar down to 49 at night and up to high seventies in the day. It feels like summer and fall are playing tug-of-war at times. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Cathy, in Northern Virginia, we have felt the change in weather. Little nibbles of summer is such a great set of words. Maybe you check out your summer pictures and send a nibble of your summering for the mini-gallery. I would love that after reading your PF poem this week.
