Gratitude Days

Days are getting shorter and there is an early autumn feel to the last days of summer. I am grateful for the beauty of life and its transitions. Thinking about the #21daysofgratitude challenge and Michelle H. Barnes' Ditty Challenge offered by Jane Whittingham, I created an all-about-me acrostic poem.

Recently, I created a definito poem, Within the Silence and a tribute, We Remember 9/11  to the people in my hometown who perished in that horrific tragedy. As I ready to facilitate a regional meeting for literacy leaders, I take a few minutes to meet with my Poetry Friday friends who are gathering at the gracious Linda Baie's blog. I am grateful for all these opportunities.

    1. I am off to bake cookies for a dinner party today, Irene. Maybe a poem will evolve from the dough making process. Thank you for commenting and let's meet-up at NCTE.

  2. "Creator, curator, cookie maker" fits your beginning letter very well, Carol. I wish, as Irene says, I could be at NCTE, to have fun with you & so many others. Maybe when it comes to Denver, I think next year! Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Life is fragile and uncertain, Cheriee. I have witnessed this many times and so it is really important to greet each day with warmth and a spirit of gratitude. I am so pleased that you find our community of writers such an open and kind group of genuine people.

    1. I just finished my last batch of cookies for the today, Heidi. I brought a fall array to a dinner party last night and freezing others for the next event. My 2-year-old granddaughter always waits for her cookie from "Nama Cookie". Thanks for sharing your lovely comment.

    1. Mary Lee, I really liked the frame template so I had to work with the dimension to create the poem format. It was a fun project. Thanks for commenting.

  6. Beautiful imagery that you created for your poem "Within the Silence" Carol–the warmth of the image is mirrored in the warmth of your poem. I like the assembled "Who Am I " poem collage your created too, thanks!

  7. I love how all of those traits you list at the bottom of your graphic—inner warmth, indomitable spirit, creativity, etc.—come through in your acrostic! Forgive me for being slow to commenting, Carol (way too much going on at home), but thank you for sharing this little ditty all about you.
