The solstice came with light instead of darkness. For me, it shifted time and perspective in a positive way. As more light slowly continued a sense of momentary peace arrived. I accepted the invitation to slow down, release some stress, and hope that my 2025 one word, renew, would move beyond darkness.
Moving Darkness into Light
I am still debating which one word to choose for 2026 since 2025 brought many deep bumps on my daily travels. Yet, I managed to move forward and will continue to do so.
shadows stream
splitting serenity until
the solstice arrives
winter shadows slew away
as light awakens
peace evolves
if only for a moment

Thank you, Two Writing Teachers, for the meeting place that leads writers to reflect and share thoughts.

Carol, your words and images of this special time of year when darkness and light interact with nature are magical. I hope your OLW arrives someday soon and yields a new year of health and happiness.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have had a tough year, and I hope your 2026 is filled with light and love.
ReplyDeleteCarol, you have had a rough year. You survived. When darkness seemed to entomb you, you always found the light to lead you out of it. Your positivity is a light for others. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2006. I am sure that the word you choose for 2006 will continue to guide you on this journey of life. Happy New Year! Bob
ReplyDelete2026 did I have too much eggnog?
DeleteBob, you are right I have survived so far. The boot is still on until mid-January or perhaps later. Happiness for a blessed New Year for you and Kathy. I will see you at SJT.
DeleteCarol, I know 2025 brought too many shadows your way and pray 2026 will bring more light. Sending a big hug to you, friend. Love those poems and accompanying photos.
ReplyDeleteGlenda, I love your hug and wishes. I am baking ricotta Christmas cookies with my son now and I feel mellow (is it the sugar or the friendship of friends? Both!) Happy New Year, friend.
DeleteI am thankful that I don't see what a year holds, or I might draw back from living and miss the wonders that it also holds... like, for example, the darkness fading into light (love the reverse imagery you describe). Happy New Year 2026!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful photos and poem of light. Reading your post, I wonder if forward would be a good word for2026.
