Three little girls snuggle in jammies
Wondering what delights await them
At Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Do they hear what I hear, and
See what I see?
Night turns into day.
Wind swishes through the trees
The Christmas tree lights up the room and
Hot cocoa sweetens the morning.
All is well as three little girls
Unwrap presents under the tree,
Sing along with their new microphones,
Let small balls roll down slides,
and a Santa Workshop is created.
I watch their frolicking fun,
Feel the love that warms the house.
Will they remember this holiday
Wrapped in tissue paper, kisses,
And the beloved 1940's manger?
These moments captured in photos
Will be savored as Jingle Bells and laughter
Flow through Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Happy New Year to the worldwide reflective writers
Carol, what a lovely picture your poem paints. Love warms the house as nothing else can. Joy and laughter fill the air. Grandma and Grandpa's hearts overflow with love. Photos capture the moment. Memories warm the heart. Happy New Year to you and your family. Bob
ReplyDeleteBob, thank you for your thoughts. They are always thoughtful and give me a boost. I am actually happy that we are moving into a new year because this one has been filled with medical issues. I am ready to look at life in a positive way. See you at SJT.
DeleteCarol, this is a beautiful snapshot frozen in time, stamping the memories of Christmas 2024 as seen through the eyes of a grandmother as she watches her precious granddaughters in Christmas merriment. The history of the 1940s manger brings the ancestors to the present day moment, their hands long ago having touched (maybe even made) the nostalgic decor. There is angelic presence all around - the past, present, and future in this scene that unfolds. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joyful Christmas! Happy 2025!

Carol, This is such a Norman Rockwell-ish ideal image of Christmas. It’s simply divine.
ReplyDeleteCarol, what a lovely poem. So many pictures pop up through your words. I especially enjoyed the Santa's workshop feel as they tried out their toys and the hot cocoa. They will remember the feels, I'm sure.
