Summering is a state of mind that brings feelings of joy and relaxation. It revolves around the best of summertime and the ability to savor those feelings year round.
There is an art to summering,
from sun simmering
to fan swaying-
leisurely enjoying
porch sitting
shore watching
sunsets blazing
sparklers swooning
cameras shooting
people celebrating
children playing
families planning
trip taking
beach happening
memory sharing
love noting
and sea scattering

Thanks for hosting us, Carol! I unintentionally have a contribution to the art of summering...the SWELTERING edition!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Mary Lee, I thought of that as soon as I read the poem and looked at the image. The SWELTERING edition sounds great. Enjoy your break. Thank you for the contribution.

ReplyDeleteRose, I am late in replying to your comment. Thank you for commenting on my Art of Summering poem that holds the best of this summer. Have a wonderful week.
DeleteCarol, your list poem of summery suggestions contains some irresistible actions. To maintain a year round summer time disposition is an admirable goal. My wife possesses such an attitude. I am in awe of her sunniness. Right now, I am scanning daily for signs of spring peaking its head over the horizon here in far away, Australia. Thank you for hosting.
ReplyDeleteAlan, it is wonderful that your wife has such a wonderful sunny attitude toward life. I would love to see what daily spring-peaking thoughts you will have.
DeleteCarol, I love your special vision of summering! I'm a fall girl, and every morning I sense something that reminds me we're getting closer! xo
ReplyDeleteIrene, beautiful leaves find their home in my daughter's and my driveways-signs of what is to come. There is so much to love about autumn. Enjoy each morning.

ReplyDeleteCarol, I am glad to see you at Poetry Friday. I am often driving somewhere when the sunsets. The sunset makes the earth glow with beautiful, sky-layering phases
DeleteCarol, Thank you for hosting with such a wonderful poem full of relaxing images. I’m happy that your trip helped soothe your soul and bring you peace. Living in the present is something I strive to do. “Love noting and sea scattering” , sweet hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, my journey to the eastern seacoasts was worth the long rides. I not only saw the beauty of different ocean sites but I was able to enjoy life with my little grandgirls not in a sorrowful way but a joyful one. I took all of these sentiments with me when I left for home. I found blessings each day since we returned. May your world be filled with blessings.
DeleteHi, Carol — I was out of town and missed Poetry Friday last week, but I can feel the shimmering warmth of summer in your words and images!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I know you must be one of my Poetry Friends. I would love to know who I am responding to. Thank you for stopping by. My family's journey to honor my husband was well-intentioned and led to a feeling of peace.
