Moving Beyond Summer

I've traveled different paths each season,
held onto sweet, treasured moments,
and lingered in their memories
as nourishment for my spirit.

Summer sunsets.
Yet, I linger in its shore-lined moments,
snaky river runs that stretch for miles,
placid lakes with the slightest ripples,
and quiet wanderings through country roads.
I savor those peaceful days of simple relaxation
and move on to another season with gratitude.

Travel with me across the globe to view exquisite sights by those who, like me, have embraced summer as a time for relaxation and renewal of spirit, body, and mind.  As I pondered the design of my Embraceable Summer Gallery collection, I recognized the need to include mini-galleries due to the volume of creative work offered.  While I will continue to work on the full gallery showcase, I am unveiling the Embraceable Summer Travels Across the World travel log today. Click here at a Google Slides share to peruse my photo essay that celebrates the best expression of summer travel.  You can also find a PDF of the travel log here.

    1. Linda, thank you for checking out the travel log, I was delighted when I found your paper collage work in my #EmbraceableSummer collection file. Your animal pics from Twitter were very interesting. I think it as imaginative to peer them with original poems.

  8. Your gallery of summer left me feeling a wee bit melancholy about summer's end. Thankfully Fall is full of it's own kind of glory. I hope the rain ends soon so we can enjoy it!

    1. My theater trip was so much fun because we were with our friends. We had dinner in an enclosed area of a Japanese restaurant before hand that was charming.

  11. The calendar may say fall, but at 95 degrees today, summer is hanging on big time! Your galleries don't just reflect a season, though, Carol, they reflect a state of mind. That's maybe what I love most about them.

    1. I laughed when I read how hot is in Florida now, Michelle. Thanks for commenting on summer as a state of mind. It still is floating around in my mind, especially since I have so many more artistic expressions to add to the full gallery.

  12. Oh, “float away” & “ the sandy porch” makes me want to return to June, Carol. Still summery here, but cooler nights prep us for autumn. Will try, but my laptop is in a repair shop, may not be ready tomorrow. Thanks for hosting!

  13. Welcome back from Theatre Time dear Carol

Appreciations for this summer journey which can warm hearts now only now but in deep winter. I look forward to returning for a long view. Your design & set up is fun to see.

Sadly, unexpected family funeral events are occupying me but our crew has joy in remembering an amazing 97-year-old family patriarch who loved God and passed on in natural fashion at the shore cottage he shared with his beloved wife of 70 years.

    1. While this is sad news, memories can be relived and honored. 70 years of marriage-now that is a wow statement, Jan.
I appreciate that you said we can look back on the travel guide with pleasure during winter time.

  14. Thanks for hosting Poetry Friday! Just today I noticed several trees turning yellow and red here and there around town - a sure sign that autumn is coming at a gallop. For me, saying goodbye to summer trees (which provide me with cool shade)means saying hello to autumn trees (which provide me with great bursts of color.) And it occurs to me that EVERY season includes some excitement about trees - in addition to summer and autumn, there are spring (blossoms!) and winter (evergreens in snow!) So I chose a poem to share today called "When I Am Among the Trees" by Mary Oliver. Happy Autumn, everyone!

  16. Thanks for hosting, Carol. What a GORGEOUS mini-gallery! I woke up with a million thoughts racing through my head...stuff to add to my to-do list, etc. It was so calming to look through those images and words! (I could view the slide show with no problem, by the way, but the pdf was not accessible without my requesting access.)

Have a great day. BTW, I do not have an offering from you for the summer gallery. Did you send me one? If not and you have one, please send it on.

  18. Thank you, Carol, for this last hurrah to summer! Here in Western New York, we're feeling a nip in the air, so this was just lovely. Thank you, too, for hosting today's roundup. xx

    1. Amy, thanks for sharing your thoughts about Western NY. I am traveling to Syracuse and Rome next weekend to celebrate my uncle's 91st birthday since his celebration last year was interrupted by a fall and a subsequent broken neck. I will need to connect with my sister before we start packing. It was more summer than fallish today here but it was a glorious walk. Thanks for sharing the link to the roundup on Twitter.
