With artistic flourish, Lady Autumn, will promenade through Earth's summer pathways on to September's ending days. Early morning walkers may anticipate the arrival, and inhale Autumn's healing breath. Golden leaves and cinnamon colors shall pop as Nature opens its door to a new season of glorious colors and gratitude for our Earth.
As a 21st Century influencer, Autumn brings "the sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves". (Ann Drake) Landscapes will "look like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon." (Sarah Addison Allen) I look forward to watching Nature become a silent wonder glittering in gold, a grand finale of vibrant seasons. I shall appreciate the crunch of leaves as I walk with the layering of clothing as the chill breeze changes from summer warmth. F. Scott Fitzgerald leaves us with his thought, "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." I have worked this year on restoration, revival of my heart, and renewal of life. Autumn allows me the space to transition from the bonds of grief to witness the magnitude of life.
As writers, poets, and thinkers, we gather today to honor the upcoming Autumn season. I invite you to create a contribute to my Autumn Gallery of Artistic Expressions, Autumn's Ephemeral Gold. "The leaves are changing; I feel poetry in the air." (Laura Jaworski)
If Autumn speaks to you, share an artistic expression for my Autumn's Ephemeral Gold Padlet. The title will bring together a collection of seasonal poetry, a variety of artwork, nature photography, and golden quotes emphasizing the fleeting beauty of Autumn, transformation of the seasons, the art of letting go, and any other topics dealing with Fall.
I created the digital collage to emphasize Lady Autumn, dressed in couture, staring into the distance of a Fall day.

Thanks for hosting, Carol - and for all your support over the years! Crimson autumn, indeed...
ReplyDeleteMatt, thank you for your friendship throughout the years. If you are interested, I would love to have you add an image poem to shine in the gallery that I am beginning to open. It may be the last hurrah before you close your Poetry Friday portal. I think everyone would be interested in your thoughts on autumn in East. I can imagine how beautiful it looks.
DeleteThanks for getting me into an autumnal mood -- my favorite season! Love your digital collage! Thanks for hosting this week. :)
ReplyDeleteJama, thanks for offering your response, Jama. I do apologize for not responding to your blog post this weekend.I did read .your post on Friday but fell asleep while reading your post and others. It has been a family weekend. I am trying to catch up.PF friends.
Delete"I have worked this year on restoration, revival of my heart, and renewal of life. Autumn allows me the space to transition from the bonds of grief to witness the magnitude of life. " Gorgeous writing, Carol, and what profound thoughts. You are, as always, an inspiration. Thank you for this glorious welcome to Autumn! I know it's the favorite season of many of us. Thank you for sharing, and thanks for hosting with sweet cinnamon flair!
ReplyDeleteRobyn, it is a pleasure to host today(even though, Mr. Linky is acting wobbly.) I hope you will send in one of your beautiful haikus about Autumn.
DeleteMy response is seasonally adjusted, but I quite willingly admit autumn is my favourite season. Carol, you are the queen of the seasons. Your capacity for embracing seasonal beauty is well established and your words here serve to reinforce that mantle. May this autumn continue to deliver its mellow days, crisp morning air, and gentle afternoon sun. I enjoyed your multi-media haiku presentation.
ReplyDeleteAlan, Autumn seems to on the top of seasonal times. Thank you for your generous response to my blog post. The weather is still wanting to move at its own pace so here in Virginia I need to wear a sweater in case it is cooler and keep an umbrella in my car. If you have an Autumn poem and photo to accompany it , I would love to showcase it on my padlet gallery.
DeleteThough we still have so little rain, Carol, I do see a few trees making the "turn" toward what you've so beautifully welcomed as Lady Autumn. I am ready & we have had a few days of cooler weather. Thanks for hosting with this lovely post!
ReplyDeleteLinda, it is always exciting to see the trees make their turn with glorious colors. Right now the weather is moving from rainy to sunshowers, to sunshine. Perhaps, Lady Autumn is waiting for a dry moment to enter in rather than stand watching from afar. Have a wonderful weekend. I am celebrating the birthdays of both my son and daughter tonight with the enter family. I just hope the rain does not visit when we are planning to sit outside on the restaurant;s patio.
DeleteIt was 52* here in Brighton when I got up, so the nip and crisp is here--it will be so interesting to experience Autumn in a beach environment for the first time! Thank you, Carol, for bringing the flavor of the season to life (without too much pumpkin spice!). Your haiku makes me want to fashion myself a gown of leaves!
ReplyDeleteA beach environment sounds so wonderful, Heidi. I would love to hear about autumn by the beach.A gown of leaves would be just right for the season. I am a lover of pumpkin and spices for the season so I bought pumpkin spice hot chocolate for the little girls and me to enjoy when the weather brings a chill. Thanks for joining me here.
DeleteLady Autumn is taking her time here! We had a glimpse of her this past Monday, but it's mostly feeling equatorial -- hot and wet. We are almost a foot over normal in rainfall and it just. keeps. coming. So do the mosquitoes. Ugh. Bring on some of Heidi's "nip and crisp!"
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting us, Carol, and for bringing the hope of Autumn's cool splendor. I'm in with an if/then poem.
Mary Lee, the crunchy leaves were found on the sidewalks and the weather has changed several times. Perhaps Lady Autum is having fun before she arrives in the colors of Autumn. Thank you for joining today with your fun poem.
DeleteCarol, I love the "mottled" that brings to mind Hopkins' dappled things...still quite hot here, but I am dreaming of autumn for sure! thank you!! xo
ReplyDeleteIrene, thank you for enjoying my word, mottled. It popped out and I thought it would be a good word choice.Today, was a quick torrential rainstorm with a cooling temperature. Maybe Lady Autumn is restless and wanted to bring the temperature down. At any rate, enjoy dreaming of autumn. I tried to send my comment on your blog this weekend but it never went through. I will add my comment again.
DeleteCarol, this is beautiful, feeling the Autumn vibes:) Love the layers of your collage and "crimson Autumn calls." Also, I'm glad the seasonal transition helps you with grief. I feel that way too. Seasons help us remember, but also move forward. Thanks for hosting this week! Jill
ReplyDeleteJill, I've read your response above but didn't have time to comment. I am thankful for your response.I especially like your line, "Seasons help us remember, but also move forward." I may use that line in one of my blogs or poems. Iwill remain in my digital journal with your name next to it. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteI love this invitation to autumn in all her crimson.
The seasons have their own way of dealing with grief and I'm glad autumn helps you,
Jone, thanks for the thought that the seasons have their own way of dealing with grief. I am hoping to be enchanted by Lady Autumn .
DeleteI’ll looking forward to celebrating Autumn’s arrival in our now permanent mountain home —and promise to share a poem in the Padlet soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Patricia for joining me.. Since it was a family weeking, I am now catching up with reading.
DeleteCarol, thank you so much for hosting, and thank you for the inspiration to look closely and celebrate "Lady Autumn." I love your gorgeous image and your poem, especially "crimson autumn calls."
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mona for joining me.. Since it was a family weeking, I am now catching up with reading.
DeleteCarol, your prose and poetry captures so much of the beauty of a favorite season. Our seasons are subtle here in the southwest, but I get to spend a week in Minneapolis in October. I'll look forward to adding something in the Padlet about my trip. Thanks for hosting today.
ReplyDeleteDenise, thank you for stopping by. I am looking forward to seeing what photos you will have for the desert season. The weekend was devoted to family but I will read your post tomorrow. Off to sleep.!
DeleteThank you for hosting us so beautifully, Carol! I love a chill in the air. I was out this morning picking up acorns with a two year old. So much to discover on the ground. I will see if I have any appropriate photos for your padlet. My post is a celebratory one about the Best New Poets anthology for 2026
ReplyDeleteTabatha,Iam behind again due to our family weekend. I will be sure to continue reading tomorrow. Thank you for your response.
DeleteCarol, I would love to share your artistic expression of one of your travels-autumn across the sea photo poem. I think that would be the first time having a photo and poem from the US to overseas.PS:I love to take my computer everywhere. You never know what can pop. Thanks for adding your thoughts. I am visiting your blog post now.
ReplyDeleteThe above response is from me to Carol Labuzzetta. I replied as soon as I saw her post. Unfortunately, the internet swooshed it away. I am so sorry, Carol. But then I found out that this is not the only issue. Mr.Lucky swooshed away too but somehow, I found the names of those who joined me here. Thanks friends for your blog posts and responses.
DeleteThanks for hosting. Autumn is a distant hope for us in the south. Still very warm. The trees seem to know it’s coming. I am not able to link up with the linky or to view other people’s posts. Here is my link. Can you email me what I need to do to make it work? Thanks. http://reflectionsontheteche.com/2026/09/18/poetry-friday-3/
ReplyDeleteMargaret, thanks for joining me. The internet is wonky again so I am suggesting that I add your post at http://reflectionsontheteche.com/2026/09/18/poetry-friday-3/ so others plus will read your post and respond. I am sorry about this strange happening.
DeleteOh, yes! I'm ready for some cooler air. Our air conditioner stopped working yesterday about 4 pm. It's going to be a long warm weekend for my family. There's lots going on here as well. But, give me the yellows and oranges and pumpkin spice! Thank you for hosting such a glorious welcome to fall.
ReplyDeleteLinda, this weekend was one with the family so I have been busy each day. I am sorry that your air conditioner stopped working but hurray for the colors of autumn coming our way. After the rainstorm this afternoon, I went home feeling very cool. I guess it was the opposite of what you felt this weekend. I am waiting to feel Autumn's helaing breath.
DeleteYes, autumn is calling! This quote:
ReplyDelete"Landscapes will 'look like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon'"
made me crave both cooler temperatures and autumn treats. :)
Karen, in a couple more days Autumn will be officially here.I am looking forward to it.
