Poetry Love for NPM 2022

Since 2012 when Irene Latham introduced the Kidlit Progressive Poem, poets have been penning lines for a collaborative adventure. I am gearing up for my turn to add a poetic thought to the existing Progressive Poem on April 9th, only two days away. I have ideas for the poem but I need to wait for Rose Cappelli to compose her line that follows seven other poet friends. Tomorrow, after I read Rose's line, I will prepare for my turn. Wish me luck.

In the meantime, I created a nonet poem from nine syllables to one per line and then back using one to nine syllables per line. My topic is the April Progressive Poem and its connection to springtime during National Poetry Month.

April progressive poem is pure bliss.
Each day, writers script a new line
with kidlit poetic flair.
Who knows where the poem goes?
Rollercoaster thoughts
swing with each line.
Voices rise.
Wonder
On!
🌳
Hail
springtime
air, flowing
with poetic
goodness that travels
across blogs exploding
with sheer creativity.
Enjoy this year's traveling poem
inspired by joyful adventures.

Each year when springtime buds burst,
gardens fill with greenery.
Lovers share quiet chatter
so nature eavesdrops.

My poet friend, Janice Scully from the Salt City, is the host of the Poetry Friday Roundup this week. Consider stopping by her blog, Salt City Verse, to read her interview with David Elliott, author of the new book, At the Pond, available on April 12th.

Thank you, Jama Rattigan, for your comprehensive 2022 National Poetry Month Kidlithosphere Events Roundup here. Jama plans on updating the calendar as new poet happenings are sent in. My list of events during NPM 2022 will be added to the calendar.

Dear Readers,
I will try to read as many blogs as I can throughout the weekend since my surgery eye is swollen and still healing. Reading is slow-going lately but I plan on visiting everyone's NPM 2022 project this month.

Evening Balance

dreams dangle on threads of silken thoughts
luring us on to capture each one
evening shadows blanket each dream

It is in the noticing and wondering stage that creativity sprouts seeds. The potential of the creative mind is limitless. I need to know that my sweetest dreams can grow into thoughts that dangle on silken threads waiting to be realized. I write to capture each one, balancing them in the pendulum of life.

Nature's Fashion Statement

Mother Nature, the trendy diva that she is, never fails to make a bold fashion statement. Whether she is dressed in brilliant, verdant green or muted greys, she confidently dashes across the states calling attention to her stylish spring looks.

Nature dresses in verdant colors
Fashioned for life's festivities-
Colorful, chic, and in vogue,
Runway designs for show.
Sprightly springing, spring
Steps in bold style
Blossom-ready,
Blooming
Fresh.

I have been admiring the new poetic forms that are popping up on Poetry Friday blogs and decided that this week, I would try a new form, the nonet, a nine line poem that has 9 syllables in the first line and moves down to one syllable by the last line. I often ponder a new form for days trying to word weave in my head, like I am playing a mental game. Then, I capture my notes and fashion them into a poem.

Since fashion is on my mind these days, what with the new flowing florals and lacey tops, I envisioned Mother Nature dressed for spring in the photos I took. The one above was digitized with Waterlogue and the one below was a splendid backdrop for my iPhonography photos. While spring comes in spurts, I was happy to capture this one below while visiting my grandbaby in Virginia.

I'm gathering digital offerings like the ones above for my spring gallery, Sense-sational Spring, this week.

Now off to catch the seed storm photos and poetry at Buffy Silverman's spring-filled blog that you can access here. Buffy is hosting Poetry Friday this week.
