"Find your joy and let it run your life." - Cleo Wade
Cleo is a writer, poet, and author "being hailed as the "Millenial Oprah." As a positivity personality, I am drawn to her inspirational quotes. I open this segment of my Embraceable Summer Gallery offering joy to those who take a quick gallery walk through the collection of inspirational, artistic expressions.
Let's start with a look at slicer Molly Hogan's muted marshland photo found on Twitter. The serenity of the scene offered inspiration to compose a haiku that was quickly tweeted to Molly.

Welcome to #EmbraceableSummer Gallery Seen Through the Artistry of Slicers
Alone at the marsh.
Feeling blessed.
-Molly Hogan, 2020
My response to Molly:
stillness sets sharing
end-of-summer quietude-
marshland's gracious gift

Slicer Kevin Hodgson's response to Molly:
Blessed is the thin
branch still stretched
from the tree, standing
like a beacon in open
fields of grass and water,
a moment's respite
for birds and poets alike

Spot two is a scene from slicer Terje Akke's country of Estonia seen on her blog.
summer seaside stroll
bright as sunshine it stands-
nature nurtures life

Slicer Fran Haley's illustrates the quiet beauty of nature in this lovely photo.
cradled among trees
winding path beckoning-
future is fragile

The last stop on the gallery walk was found at slicer Margaret Simon's post, This Photo Wants to Be a Poem. It is a dreamy, digitized photo by another slicer, Paula Bourque.
Margaret Simon drafted the following poem for Paula's photo:
I would like to be remembered*
as someone who softened things
like the still, blue surface
of a lake at dawn.
*words from a Ruth Bader Ginsburg quote, "I would like to be remembered a someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability."
🌻
Silence speaks in soft shadows,
inviting life to reflect
upon painted horizons.

At the end-of-summer, nature embraces the energy of summertime, cradles earth in shades of golden sand, and folds into the arms of autumn.
I salute the summer season that still wishes to stay here on Long Island and offer hopes for an abundant autumn of well-being and fiery kaleidoscope colors.

Thank you to the following slicers, Terje Akke, Paula Bourque, Fran Haley, Kevin Hodgson, Molly Hogan, and Margaret Simon, whose work I share in this segment of the Embraceable Summer Global Gallery of Artistic Expressions.
Now, I am off to join Two Writing Teachers for the Slice of Life Tuesday.
I used Molly's image for a poem this morning, too.
ReplyDeleteLovely images here and poems and writing, as usual
Kevin
Kevin, it is so good to hear from you at the beginning of the school year. I listened to your blog and read through your posts on being back-to-school. They were filled with your honest reflections and positive approach to the different remote models you are using. I also just saw your response to Molly and wanted very much to include you in my gallery as in the past. If you go back into this slice, you will see your #smallpoems to Molly's photo. Thank you for your creativity.
DeleteCarol, I'm honored to be included here. Your galleries are always inviting, uplifting, reflective, and restorative walks. They welcome meditation. As Molly says, a reminder of blessings. Like Margaret, I'd like to be remembered as "one who softened things." Other words that jump out and connect so perfectly to these images- gracious, beckoning, cradle, and always, nurture. Thank you for always opening wide the doors for us, Carol, for nature to soothe and lift our spirits!
ReplyDeleteFran, thank you for another beautiful response. l am blessed also to have such creative friends who support my galleries and offer their creativity.
DeleteA collection that truly captures the beauty of the season. The pictures and the words each offer their own bit of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on this segment of the gallery. Leaves should be falling soon so I hope you find the just right photo to accompany the Autumn Acrostic you wrote. They will be showcased at my #AbundantAutuum Gallery.
DeleteA collection that truly captures the beauty of the season. The pictures and the words each offer their own bit of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteImages inspire even when there is unrest in the world. I love how we can all find peace in these photographs of nature and in words, simple and true. Thanks for sharing. Margaret
ReplyDeleteMargaret, what the world needs now are more peaceful scenes to capture. Positive inspiration can be found in nature. Even the windy, rainy scenes outside my window give me reason to pause.
DeleteThis is such a beautiful array of images and poetry. Thanks for including my marsh photo in the mix. It's an honor!
ReplyDeleteMolly, your photographic talents inspire others to respond in writing. Thank you.

Alan, I just read your Embraceable Summer Poempost. it is so exciting to see your poem and photo blog post. You have now added a new medium for my gallery-a link up to a post. I am sharing this link at Poetry Friday this week. Thanks for letting me travel with you to Australia, albeit virtually. We all need collective hope to fill the air. It is my hope that summer 2021 will be far different than what it looks like this year. Nature is here for us to indulge in without sadness.
