What is someone to do when it is ninety-three degrees outside?
Here is a funny comic that is a good response for me the baker. A few years ago my 4-year-old granddaughter called me Namacookie because I would bring a homemade treat when I saw her.
Since the above option is a stretch, I have a plausible plan-sit under a large umbrella looking at the beautiful landscape surrounding the pool in our Virginia community. Relax. Catch a few rays but when the sun's rays feel like a layer of heat penetrating my skin, dangle my feet in the pool. Another option is to stay cool reading a book in the shade or airconditioning.

Stay cool and remember Roman Payne's quote (that I formatted into a poem).
"O, Sunlight!
The most precious gold
to be found
on Earth."
Even in a heatwave, there is something to be grateful for!
Have a cookie and enjoy life!

It's Slice of Life Tuesday so I am traveling over to Two Writing Teachers to offer my slice.
Carol, your plan sounds perfect. Book...shade...a refreshing drink...a snack...relax. We are in the middle of a heat wave and I am just enjoying the air conditioning. If only we could bottle the heat and then release it during those frigid days of winter. Enjoy your relaxing day.
ReplyDeleteBob, there is some solace in the fact that others are also in a heatwave. My to do list is almost finished for the day so a trip to the pool is a welcome treat. Since I am still under the weather with the sinus infection, I am only going to dip my feet in the pool and read my book. Stay cool.
DeleteGreat plan - making cookies in a heatwave! After all, what can cookies NOT cure? Your digital art leaves me laughing and also refreshed, sensing that breeze and contemplating life's glorious gifts.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't so hot with the oven on, I would bake. Alternative plan is to take the already made cookies out of the freezer for a cool treat. LOL-stay cool.
DeleteCarol, beautiful image of the lounge chair in your yard. Enjoy the shade and A/C. Stay safe! Sunlight is the greatest gold on earth, but this climate disruption has to stop! I love Namacookie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for enjoining the ways I "Beat the Heat", Denise. The lounge chair is at our community's clubhouse. We have an indoor & outdoor pool plus an exercise room, library, and billiard/game room. It is quite nice and only 1/2 hour away from my little granddaughters.
DeleteA good plan… especially finding a nice cool spot and a good book!
ReplyDeleteI'm right with you, Diane. Enjoy your summer time off.
Delete"Have a cookie and enjoy life!" - yes to this! I like your attitude - you find the cool in the pool or in the shade and don't complain about the sun nor heat. May you have enough shade to feel good and stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terje for your words of wisdom! Sun on!
