March Musings Day 31: A Sweet Ending

It is the last day of writing with the Two Writing Teachers community of reflective writers during the March Slice of Life Story Challenge. I started the journey by creating. and connecting with new slicers or friends whom  I've written alongside for years in artful ways.

Writing is a practice of the heart on a journey of self-discovery. It "brings us back to the uniqueness of our minds and an acceptance of it." (Natalie Goldberg)

31 Days of Writing

connecting with my thoughts:
scattered singed ashes,
trying to make sense of the nature of March.
nuggets of thoughts float along.
pause for right eye cataract surgery
and a few weeks of post-surgery.
The creative process continued
I'm ready for the slicers' party
to continue to write.

before the stroke of midnight.
I write new formats.
An ekphrastic dodoitsu evolves.
I dream of capturing the
sensitivity of the moment
especially when birthdays are special.
and this sweet ending
to yet another month of daily writing.

What's Up Next?
Since writing is a journey of the mind and heart, I will continue to write poetry throughout April, National Poetry Month, and as a priority, unveil my Winter's Embrace Gallery of Artistic Expressions. Each creation will focus on capturing the "humanity of the moment" in photos as stated by photographer Robert Frank.
Thank you poet-teacher, Heidi Mordhorst for hosting Poetry Friday. I am heading over to see what poetic goodness she has for April 1st.

Thank you Two Writing Teachers for this daily meeting place to connect with a community of reflective writers and thank you Amy Ellerman on behalf of Two Writing Teachers for your congratulatory send-off on this last day of the 15th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge.

Readers, thank you for joining me at my March Musings 2022 this year.
I appreciate your comments and commitment to writing.
It's been a wonderful experience exchanging slices with you.

  2. This is a creative way to celebrate the month long writing. I am impressed you used all your titles in a meaningful way. I am also impressed that you have energy to take on another challenge. Then again you are a writer and a poet through and through. I enjoy reading your posts and appreciate your comments on my posts.

    1. Terje, I think we are good exchangers of information and commentaries on each other's work. I feel comfortable when reading your comments. Being supportive is a mark of a reflective writer. I appreciate you, Terje, and thank you for supporting me.

Will you join me for poetry writing during National Poetry Month?

    2. Carol, I don't know if I have a month of poems in me. I check it out, though. I have never looked into it. Where do I go for information?

    3. Bob, many of the Poetry Friday group will write blogs with with poems using the hashtag #NationalPoetryMonth. It is an optional event for writers. You could write along with me if you like. Maybe we can get some more slicers to form a small group. We would not have to congregate every day. What do you think if I throw out the idea at next Tuesday's Slice of Life?

    1. It was great fun putting the pieces in order, just like a puzzle, Mary Lee. I actually created the poem in 2 stages. Days 1-22 came first and then 23-31.

    1. Janice, your comment makes me smile. During the past couple of months, I have struggled with getting deadlines met but I was determined to carve out some time for me to in the writing zone. It hasn't been easy but it continues to be worthwhile. It helps to have poetry friends, like you, supporting my efforts.

  6. This is so cool, Carol! I love this condensed month in a poem that feels connected, yet surprising! Hope you're healing well. Don't overdo it with your eye. You're such a dedicated commenter, but you probably have limited eye energy for reading all the blogs. The PF community will still be here when you're ready, so if you need to take a break from reading/commenting, do it! Take care of yourself!

    1. Thank you, Linda. My surgery eye has been annoying me so today I will try and respond to comments posted and I will try to get some PF more posts read. Healing is a slow process so the doctor said he is postponing the next surgery until the right eye's inflammation decreases. Have a great week and NPM month.
