Day After Surgery
morning hugs sky
as eye patch hugs eye
light streaks peek
through blinds
feeling a bit unbalanced
off to the doctor
take care-follow directions
remove patch
back to the house
2-year-old arrives
grandma care needed
shift attention
grandgirl smiles and talks
worry lifted
balance between
child and self-care
pillows plumped for rest
exhausted but thankful
time for eyes to rest
along with mind
eye patch ready
good night world
ready for a new view on life

Thank you Two Writing Teachers for this daily meeting place to connect with a community of reflective writers.
Carol, what kind of lens did you get? Will you still need glasses? I hope your surgery went well and you have no complications. I think you know I recently had cataract surgery, and so need another one on my right eye. My doctor thinks the lens is defective and arrived that way from the manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are recovering well, and that you end up with crystal clear vision when you heal! I am impressed that you wanted to write even on the day after surgery!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think you'd be writing for a few days, but here you are. My husband has had several eye surgeries. Be patient with the process.
