March Musings: Day 1 of March SOLSC! #SOL21

Writing is a daily practice, an opening of my heart to the whispers of my soul.

It just so happens that as I begin this ritual of daily writing with the Two Writing Teachers Community, I am in the process of leaving one life to create a new one. My one word 2021, begin, will be my guide as I pack my Long Island home of 39 years because a new adventure in Virginia awaits me.
Why, Virginia?

I am moving with my husband and son to live closer to my daughter, son-in-law, and two delightful granddaughters, ages 3 1/2- and 1-years-old. My sister also decided to build a new home in the same community. Need I say more? Family First! But before I start a new chapter of my life story, I must cross one last hurdle as March chillingly marches in. Winter still lingers but time does not stand still. Packing continues. An estate sale commences. Movers arrive in one week. Then, off to Virginia and back to Long Island for the closing.

Today, with so much to do and so little time, I was able to pause for a brief moment this morning to listen to a sweet song.

During March SOLSC! #SOL21, I plan on documenting each day of my new beginning. Join me this month to reveal another page in the journal of life as I search to find meaning in a new life and gratitude in quiet corners.

  1. Carol, being surrounded by family is one of the best reasons to move. I know how hectic it was to move across the county. Can't imagine what it is like to move to a different state. Hope the move goes smoothly. I look forward to reading about your adventures in moving.

    1. Bob, thanks for joining me here. I was just about to read your slice. It has been really hard trying to carve out time for writing but I found a few minutes to get the slice off. I have an estate sales photographer in my house now. After much angst, we decided to sell much of our furniture and opt for a new look. Will it work out? Not sure but that's for another slice.

    1. Maureen, thank you for joining me as I start my monthlong slicing. Let's see how long I will be able to sustain the writing within the next few weeks. I am hoping to keep the writing short and sweet. Best of luck to you too and YES! to family first.

  3. Can't wait to watch you move and slice all at the same time. If anyone can do that, it would be you, Carol. Thanks for sharing your new beginning with us.
Love your opening quote: "Writing is a daily practice, an opening of my heart to the whispers of my soul."

    1. Ramona, the adrenaline is pumping and I wake early to write before the men get up and my day demands total attention on the move. See you at SJT this week and of course, slicing.

    1. Holly, I miss you so thank you for connecting. I think back when you moved from your home to a beautiful lakeside community. The funny thing about our move is that we did not downsize but upsized based on the open floor plan.

    1. Fran, I hope it will all come to be. I did order a cherry blossom tree for my front yard since I missed the blossoms this past year.

    1. Nawal, I am so excited that you joined me and we will become slicer buddies. Please send me your link to your blog so I can check in. There are so many slicers that it is easier to reach out individually like you did.
